Research Interests

I am interested in the regulation of stress and emotions in healthy individuals and individuals with an eating disorder. I focus on emotional eating (i.e., eating in response to negative emotions) and stress eating. Moreover, I am interested in the emotion specificities of individuals with an eating disorder such as eating-related fears or negative appearance anxiety. I mainly study naturalistic setting using smartphone-based ecological momentary assessment but my research also incorporates psychometric and experimental methods. I recently expanded my research to other health-related behaviors such as physical activity, alcohol and nicotine consumption.
My second research interest is on emotional reactivity to social stressors like negative and positive evaluations from others (elicited through the E.Vids). I am especially interested in the differential reactivity patterns of individuals with subclinical and clinical disorders showing impairments in social situations, like social anxiety, depression or borderline personality disorder.
